Clay Sculpture Class for Spring Break

Designed for anyone 10 years and older, classes will be held in three sessions at 10 AM to Noon or from 1 to 3 PM, both on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, March 14, 15, and 16.

Each class is limited to 10 students. Cost is $30 plus $10 for supplies. In Session 1, each student will select and draw an animal. In Session 2 students will use their drawing to create the clay animal form. In Session 3 students will use various tools for texture to complete their clay project.

Roger Betschler has taught Art classes for 22 years in the public school system. In this class, he will teach how to draw animals focusing on form and texture, demonstrate how to model clay to create form, and show students how to add texture. The finished products will be fired in his studio kilns (rogersartstudio.com) and brought back to the SOAL Gallery for pick-up.

First Valentine's Party a Hit

About 50 members and guests celebrated Valentine's with a glass of champagne or sparkling juice, a homemade cookie, and a fancy chocolate cupcake provided for the occasion by Holly Smith and Sister Suzie's Chocolates & Gifts. The Interact Club of Seguin High School came with sponsor Jack Lee to take souvenir photos. Guests sipped by candlelight, toured the Gallery, and then found bargains in the Gift Shop. We also collected dues from several new and renewing members. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate the Gallery's first Valentine's! Click here to see a few photos.
